Sounds like you have some really interesting ideas from your parents. That's so awesome that your Mum can look at the values she believes in as her culture and that you Father is doing what he can to give back more than he takes.
It's Awesome that you have asked them and I want to encourage you to ask them about your families history even more, it's a great way to see where you come from, find out about your culture and ,most importantly, spend really lovely times exploring memories with your family.
I hope you really enjoy the SLJ activities, feel free to do them in order you'd like.
