You have raised some great points in your letter to Jacinda Ardern. I think learning Te Reo and about Maori customs and history should be a compulsory part of the New Zealand curriculum. Did you know that by 2022 every school has to be teaching New Zealand history? The government listened to people’s concerns that children weren’t being taught enough about the important history of our country. The government is working with teachers to develop the curriculum this year! I was lucky at my school, we lived close to the Treaty Grounds in Waitangi and we learnt about New Zealand history every year. Have you learnt any history at school?
